Gotee Records are back with yet another great find. reliant K are a frantic foursome from Canton, Ohio whose brand of punk'n'roll has been described as cross between 'British Invasion' bands like The Who, post punk favourites MxPx and Gothi Hook, with the wit and melodic catchiness of Blink 182 and Foo Fighters. What is certain is that this Mark Townsend (guitarist from dc talk) produced 15-track debut is crammed with fun, great songs, fun, great playing and more fun! Kicking off with the Michael J Fox namechecking Hello Mcfly, moving into the myth exploding (as in - Marilyn Manson's not my) Girlfriend and reaching full speed with Staples! There's room for some serious social comment with Wake Up Call - the need to get up and get with it and grab life with both hands, and 17 magazine - an expose of the teen magazine advice columns.
In the words of Toby McKeehan 'Just a lot of purity in this one without the exclusion that comes from the typical purist band. Pure talent! Pure fun! Yet purely for everyone ... so tough to find in a genre where the desire to be different usually leaves a band unattainable. These guys' smirks aren't derived from anything but the idea that they're allowed to play their instruments for a living. Why is this band different? It's credibility meets mass appeal.'
