The life of John Newton must be one of the most amazing stories of the 18th century. By his early twenties he was a hard-bitten slave trader living a life of debauchery. John Wesley was a remarkable man by any standards. He travelled over a quarter of a million miles of difficult trerrain on horseback, preached 42,000 sermons and trained 192 itinerant evangelists.
