Lost Sheep began in 2004 with the aim of producing high quality
story telling resources to equip parents, teachers, pastors and
children's workers in their ministry. We regard story telling as a
powerful biblical model for sharing the gospel, we take the
spirituality of children seriously and think the gospel is actually
fun. We aim to express the full breadth of Jesus' teaching beyond
the standard fare offered to kids.
Lost Sheep books are widely used in Anglican, Catholic and
Independent Christian Schools in Australia. The books are being
used as readers, as a fun resource in religious education, and as
the main message in assemblies and chapel services. Art teachers
have found the illustrations as valuable reference materials and
the books have been used to encourage children in public reading,
storytelling and creative writing. It is often children who use the
stories in ministry at church or in outreach.
Andrew McDonough is the writer and illustrator. Until recently he
was the pastor of an inner city Baptist church working amongst the
homeless, people struggling with addictions and advocating for
refugees. Andrew hopes that the Lost Sheep stories will result in a
generation of kids who follow Jesus by caring for the poor. He
regularly tells stories and conducts workshops in schools and
churches. Stewart Bogle is the organiser and leader. He has a
background in primary school education and was the principal and
national director of Capernwray Torchbearers Bible College in
Australia. Stewart regularly preaches and teaches both in Australia
and internationally. Samuel and Simon Pearce are the designers who
make the Lost Sheep books look so good. Bronwyn Drew is both
creative and organised. Bron keeps Lost Sheep on track.
Lost Sheep has a commitment to missions and aid agencies. We have
provided books for schools, orphanages and workers in many
countries including Burma, Malawi, Mozambique, China, Cambodia,
Vietnam, Indonesia, Russia and Fiji. We are looking at translating
some of our books for use in other languages and also producing
"wordless" books for use in countries where religious books are
forbidden. We're still a young company but hope to provide dozens
of stories that encourage children around the world to follow
Jesus.
