UNDERSTAND THE
FACT FROM THE FICTION
|
|

|
| |
|
According to the Daily Telegraph , The
Da Vinci Code is ‘The biggest selling adult hardback
fiction book of all time'. 1 It has sold millions of copies, been
translated into dozens of languages and has been made into a $100
million film starring Tom Hanks and Ian McKellen, scheduled for
release in May 2006.
But what is the central premise of The Da Vinci Code
?
Through its characters, The Da
Vinci Code asserts that ‘almost everything our fathers taught
us about Christ is false '. It claims that:
º The Catholic Church has kept the true facts about Christianity
hidden through force and terror.
º Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene (who was the head
apostle).
º The Holy Grail is not, as commonly
believed, the chalice used at the last supper but the womb of Mary
Magdalene who bore Jesus' daughter, Sarah.
º The descendants of Mary Magdalene
and Jesus became Kings of France 7.
º Jesus was not the Son of
God.
º He was a mortal prophet – a
great and powerful man of staggering influence who inspired
millions to live better lives.
º Jesus was a radical
feminist.
º The pagan emperor Constantine
proposed a motion to upgrade Jesus to a deity at the Council of
Nicaea in 325 AD.
º Jesus became the Son of God by a
narrow vote, but that prior to that, no one believed him to be
divine.
º Constantine 's motive was to give
power to the Roman Catholic Church.
These books and group studies will equip
you to answer the big questions raised by The Da Vinci Code
enabling you to navigate through the fiction to reach the real
truth of who Jesus really is.
